The training program has been evaluated and redesigned and is now held with multiple districts with each district being responsible at a different time. You can find all training and information regarding training on the Northern Star website. Greg Nonweiler within our District is also very knowledgeable regarding training. Every Youth Deserves
a Trained It is very important to be sure there are trained leaders in the units to be sure the boys are receiving the best possible program available. On Wednesday May 30st there will be New Leader Essentials training from 7 – 9pm; and on Thursday, May 31st there will be a Cub Scout Leader Specifi c Leader Training from 7 – 9pm. Both trainings are at the Prior Lake Library 16210 Eagle Creek Avenue SE Prior Lake, MN. To register or if you have questions, contact Sandy Muench at 952-440-6368 or srmuench@yahoo.com. If you are unable to attend and would like to be trained, contact Allie Gardiner at agardiner@northernstarbsa.org or 651-254-9137, and she will let you know of dates in other districts so you are able to be trained.

Who should go to Training and what kind of training should I take?If you have completed an Adult Scout Leader application, you should be going to Training. Every adult Scout leader position has important tasks in bringing the program to you pack, troop, team, or crew. In a Cub Scout pack, if you have registered as a Den Leader, Asst, Den Leader, Tiger Den Leader, Webelos Den Leader, Asst. Webelos Den Leader, Den Leader Coach, Pack Committee Chair, Pack Committee Member, Cubmaster, Asst. Cubmaster, or Chartered Partner Representative, you need to be going to Training starting with Fast Start, than Youth Protection Training, New Leader Essentials, and Cub Scout Leader Specific. To take Cub Scouts camping, you will also need to complete BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) and for Webelos Leaders, you will need WOLF (Webelos Outdoor Leader Fundamentals). As a Boy Scout leader, Scoutmaster, Asst. Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Chair, Troop Committee Member, or Chartered Partner Representative, you start your training with Fast Start for Boy Scouts. Next it is Youth Protection Training and New Leader Essentials. For Scoutmasters and Asst. Scoutmasters, you need to continue with SM/ASM Leader Specific which all includes Outdoor Leader Skills. For Troop Committee Chairs and Members, your next step is Troop Committee Challenge. Venture Crew leaders also follow a like path with the start with Venturing Fast Start. Venture Advisors, Asst. Venture Advisors, Crew Committee Chairs and Crew Committee Members than continue with Youth Protection Training, New Leader Essentials, and Venturing Leader Specific. There is also training for new District and Council leaders including Fast Start for Commissioner, Youth Protection and New Leader Essentials. For Commissioners there is Commissioner Basic Training. Supplemental training is also available for all leaders at Roundtable and training event like IHC University of Scouting. These training programs help you bring even more knowledge about Scouting and doing Scouting in your registered Scout leader position.

You can attend any training, any where! You need to be trained in each position you hold. If you change position, you need to attend training for that position. IHC University of Scouting replaced Pow Wow's and Show and Do's. Experience the fun and attend the University! Attending training let's you get to know other leaders from other units and is a great networking opportunity. Don't forget to have your youth trained!
