Great Job Prairie Lakes District for being a GOLD level JTE District for 2011

Its never to late to Join Scouting.  Find your nearest Cub Scout Pack or Boy Scout troop and see what fun and adventures they do while learning skills for their future in life as adults.

Cub Scouts check out your section in Announcements area the DISTRICT PINEWOOD results are posted there hope you all had fun.

Also TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING, every youth deserves a trained leader.

New Prairie Lakes District Executive

New to the Prairie Lakes District is Emily Mujica, your new District Executive. Emily comes from Mason City, IA where she was a born and raised. She is a graduate of Iowa State University with a major in Child and Family Services. Throughout her past experiences she was involved with many nonprofit organizations and was a mentor for kids in her community. In college she ran cross country and track and was a four time national qualifier during each season. With all of Emily’s successes, she is excited to be working with Northern Star Council.  If you have any questions or would like to contact her, call 651-254-9137 or emujica@northernstarbsa.org .

Prairie Lakes District Pinewood Derby

When: Saturday April 14, 2012

Where: McGuire Middle School

Weigh in & Registration             Race Start Time – 10 am
-    Lions/Tigers       8:30 am            10:00am
-    Wolf                    9:30 am            11:30 am
-    Bear                    11:00 am        1:00 pm
-    Webelos I & II     12:30 pm        2:30 pm

Who can participate?
 Race cars- winners from each rank/grade from each pack (or alternates).
Show cars- best examples of car design, craftsmanship and imagination. Top four design winners from each pack (or alternates).
Each pack will be able to submit six race cars and four show cars. It is recommended packs choose six separate race cars and four separate show cars.

Entrants must be a member of Northern Star Council, Prairie Lakes District and have qualified at the pack level. All Cub Scouts, including Lion Cubs and second-year Webelos who have graduated to a troop, are eligible to race their cars in the Prairie Lakes District Pinewood Derby.
Scouts must be in their official Cub Scout uniform at car check in, during the race and at the awards ceremony.
We will be using a 6 lane, 64 foot aluminum track. Each car will be raced six times, once on each lane.

All participants will receive a Pinewood Derby Patch. Trophies will be awarded to the following: Top 3 Race Finishers from each rank/grade, Top 10 Show Award Winners.

Webelos Woods

Date & Time: April 27- April 29, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Location: Phillipo Scout Reservation, Lower Level

Cost (All food provided): $22 All Webelos, Adults and Non-staff
               $15 All Staff Boy Scouts and Adults

Hosted by: Troop 262 & 235

Webelos Dens should arrive at Phillipo Friday evening between 6-7pm and check in at Headquarters, Gwinn Center. This will be two nights of camping and a full day of activities on Saturday. Webelos will camp with their parents/guardian and a hosting Boy Scout Troop.
Baloo and Owls leader training is being offered this weekend!
